Tutors Needed

Tutoring with Reality Changers is an opportunity to inspire and empower young minds on their academic journey. As a tutor, you’ll support 8th-12th grade students through weekly mentoring and academic assistance and make a lasting impact on their lives.

Tutors are encouraged to build strong relationships with students, serving as positive role models and mentors. As an SD volunteer, you’ll have the chance to not only provide academic support but also offer occasional mental and emotional guidance, helping students navigate challenges and develop critical life skills.

Volunteers committing to two-to-three hours a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, for a minimum of one semester and, become an integral part of the Reality Changers community. Monthly attendance at Mentor Trainings ensures ongoing professional growth and learning. Reliable transportation to and from the office is required for this role.

As a tutor, you will support students’ academic, personal, and career development goals, fostering an environment that encourages studying and learning. Maintaining open communication with program staff and the Volunteer Manager is essential, ensuring that any additional support or resources needed by the students are promptly addressed.

If you’re at least 18 years old, have a passion for education and mentorship, and are willing to uphold Reality Changers’ values, policies, and procedures, this role is tailor-made for you. By passing the Live Scan background check and completing the required training, you’ll be ready to embark on this fulfilling journey of transforming lives. 

Special Event Help

Don’t have the bandwidth to commit to regular volunteer San Diego shifts? That’s okay! We’re always in need of a few helping hands for special events. As a one-time volunteer, you will play a vital role in event success. Example tasks include in building care packages, spreading awareness about Reality Changers in the community, assisting with event check-in, set-up or break-down, organizing supplies, greeting guests, and providing directions, and more.among other essential tasks.

The beauty of this role lies in its flexibility, with each volunteer opportunity lasting between 2 to 5 hours. Sign up according to your availability, allowing you to make a difference in a way that fits your schedule.

To participate as a one-time volunteer, all you need is to be at least 18 years old. Depending on the specific opportunity, a Live Scan background check might be required to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved.

Be prepared for moderate to rigorous physical activity during these events, including running, walking, standing, sitting, and occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 lbs.
