Communications Intern
Overview
Reality Changers is a dynamic non-profit organization that prepares youth to become first-generation college graduates and agents of change in their communities. We are looking for a Communications Intern to join our passionate and tight-knit team, based in downtown San Diego, CA.
The Communications Intern will work with the Manager of Graduate Engagement & Outreach to plan & create communications materials. This position is a great opportunity for someone interested in communications, marketing, social media, development/fundraising, and/or nonprofit management.
Duration
4 months; January – April 2025
Approximate Time Commitment
8 – 10 hours/week. Some evening and weekend work will be required to capture content.
Location
Intern must reside in San Diego County and have access to reliable transportation to attend in-person meetings downtown. Some work may be conducted remotely.
Compensation
Upon conclusion of the internship, the intern will receive a stipend of $2,000.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with supervisor to brainstorm social media content
- Write copy and design graphics for social media, email newsletters, & promotional materials. Tailor content to a young adult audience.
- Plan and adhere to social media & newsletter calendar
- Attend Reality Changers programs and meet with staff, students, and volunteers to capture content
- Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Current college student or recent graduate. Ideal for a candidate majoring in marketing, communications, graphic design, nonprofit management, business, or education
- Basic G Suite Skills (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
- Must have a laptop and smartphone. Smartphone should be able to take photos and record audio. Laptop should be able to participate in and record virtual meetings.
- Must successfully pass a background check and provide proof of a negative TB test
