Welcome Zoe & Kevin

We are excited to welcome Kevin Torres and Zoe Benink as our newest Achievement Coaches! Kevin will be supporting 11th graders and Zoe will be working with 9th graders to complete homework, learn soft skills, and prepare for college.

Kevin (Kev) recently moved from NYC, where he grew up in Queens, NY, experiencing a blend of cultures and perspectives in the world’s most diverse population. He navigated the NYC public education system from kindergarten through his bachelor’s degree and is now pursuing a Master of Science in Learning Design & Technology at the University of San Diego. Education has always been central to Kev’s journey. Since 2012, he has been deeply involved in non-profit work, teaching professional development, financial literacy, college counseling, and entrepreneurship at Braven and Girls Inc. of New York City. With America Needs You, he helped first-generation college students develop professional skills and networks, starting as a fellow and moving into facilitation and partnerships.

First-generation students hold a special place in Kev’s heart, and his experience drives him to empower students like himself to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. This passion led him to Reality Changers, where he aims to provide continuous encouragement, personalized academic support, and foster a sense of empowerment among our students. He believes in advocating for frictionless experiences—foster the right environment, and you’ll get the engagement you’re looking for. Kev looks forward to collaborating with all of you and making a significant impact on the lives of the students we serve.

Zoe is a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned a B.A. in History of Public Policy and Law. During her time at UCSB, she interned at the UCSB Undergraduate Journal of History and served as an editor and events coordinator for HerCampus Magazine. Zoe plans to attend law school in the near future and become an immigration lawyer, dedicating her career to helping individuals navigate the complexities of the American legal system. Outside of school and work, she loves creating art, watching bad reality tv, and occasionally crocheting. As a new achievement coach, she is excited to mentor and support students in reaching their academic and career goals!
