College Apps Academy has had an exciting start to 2018. With 28 sections, serving almost 500 seniors, the instructors are seeing record highs in college admissions to not only California schools, but also private universities nationwide. The Academy has completed its first semester with its licensed program where we have trained 15 counselors and teachers from 3 Sweetwater High Schools and the ProKids nonprofit. A mid-year survey provided internal staff with great feedback to continue to grow the program and curriculum and showing over 90% of participants exceptionally pleased with program results.
College Apps Academy students are very busy in February receiving their college acceptances and applying for Scholarships. February 1st, we kicked off the 28-in-28 Scholarship Program, to incentivize students to apply to at least 1 scholarship per day in February.
Spring academic focus shifts from applications to our College Survival skills series. Students receive instruction on a variety of topics, giving them the tools to thrive their first year in College. Some topics include: Professional skills: writing emails, building a resume, networking, Rejection & Resilience, Safety & Security, Health & Wellness, and Financial Literacy.
