Reality Changers is pleased to report that our students have completed a total of 612 hours of community service since August – nearly tripling our last report of 211 hours! The month of October provided Reality Changers the opportunity to raise funds for the organization while participating in community service.

Students lent a helping hand to our partners at Father Joe’s Villages, Friends at Ocean Beach Dog Beach, Life Time Tri San Diego, the Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity, Summit for Stem Cell, and the San Diego Public Library.

Our students’ service transformed San Diego by feeding hundreds of homeless people at Father Joe’s Villages soup kitchens. We helped keep our beaches free from debris while having fun with furry friends at Ocean Beach Dog Beach. Reality Changers students volunteered with Life Time Tri San Diego supporting wellness at their triathlon. Athletes from ages 12 to 75 ran, swam, and biked across the San Diego Bay. In addition to providing service, Reality Changers students raised $435 to continue our mission towards academic wellness! We continued supporting wellness at the Solana Beach Sunset 5K where students helped direct racers, pass out water, and give out medals. Immediately afterward, students headed to the Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club Bocce Tournament to help the event run smoothly. This partnership generated $8,858 for Reality Changers! Giving back never felt so good!

We continued to spread the Reality Changers love at the Summit for Stem Cell 5K which helped provide awareness and funds for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. In the month of October, students had the opportunity to learn about how they can develop their own service project. In our new partnership with the San Diego Public Library Teen Service Project, students will read literature about issues in the community and create a student-led community service event. Our change-makers are transforming San Diego every day!
