Baking Cookies at the Ronald McDonald House

On Saturday, April 13th, Reality Changers students baked cookies to bring some cheer to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House next to Rady Children’s Hospital. For most of the students who participated, it was their first time following a recipe and making cookies completely from scratch.

The students were responsible for the cookies from start to finish: measuring out and mixing the ingredients, dividing the dough, putting them in the oven, and allowing the cookies to cool.

Ronald McDonald House of San Diego, located adjacent the Rady Children’s Hospital, is a “home-away-from-home” for families while their seriously ill children undergoes medical treatment at nearby hospitals. Since opening their doors in 1980, they provided more than 100,000 nights of lodging. Their Old House had 12 bedrooms and in 2009, they opened a brand new, state-of-the-art Ronald McDonald House featuring 47 bedrooms, game rooms, a computer lab, laundry facilities and much more, also on the campus of Rady Children’s Hospital.
